Abstract
In order to further understand the hydration activity and carbonation activity of four-component RO phase in steel slag, the solid solution of MgO-xFeO-0.2MnO-0.1CaO system with different ratios was simulated and prepared according to the chemical elemental composition of the RO phase in the steel slag. RO phase was activated by hydration and carbonation. Result shows that four-component RO phase had hydration activity. Under the condition of autoclave, the hydration ratio of MgO and CaO in RO phase with the highest hydration activity can reach 18.8% and 50.45%, which had the problem of poor volume stability. Carbonation can convert 52.51% MgO into MgCO3 and 55.75% CaO into CaCO3 in RO phase, which consumes the content of MgO and CaO in solid solution and improves the volume stability. This study can play a positive role in the application of steel slag in cement and cementitious materials.
